The Automotive Electronics Council was initiated by Chrysler/Ford/GM and founded in 1994. Currently, its members include major automobile manufacturers, automotive electronics and semiconductor manufacturers around the world. Automotive electronics mainly use AEC as the vehicle regulation verification standard. AEC currently mainly implements standard specifications for vehicle applications, automotive parts, and automotive electronics, establishes quality management control standards, and improves the stability and standardization of vehicle electronics. Electronic components that meet the AEC-Q certification test requirements play an important role in improving product competitiveness and quickly entering the supply chain. AEC-Q certification is the entry threshold for the automotive field.
Testing standards
AEC-Q100: Applicable to all kinds of integrated circuit chips;
AEC-Q101: Applicable to discrete devices such as BJT, FET, IGBT, BJT, diode, FET, varactor, Zener, etc.;
AEC-Q102: Applicable to optical devices such as LED, laser, photodiode, phototransistor, etc.;
AEC-Q103: Applicable to MEMS devices such as pressure sensors and microphones;
AEC-Q104: Applicable to all kinds of multi-chip components MCM;
AEC-Q200: Applicable to tantalum and ceramic capacitors, aluminum electrolytic capacitors, resistors, electromagnetic devices (inductors/transformers), networks (R-C/C/R), film capacitors, thermistors, adjustable capacitors/resistors, varistors, polymer resettable fuses, quartz crystals, ceramic resonators, ferrite EMI interference suppressors/filters, etc.
AEC-Q product standards have strict control requirements. Only by passing all the test items specified in the corresponding product standards can the product be claimed to have passed the corresponding AEC-Q product standard requirements.
Although AEC-Q is not a mandatory product standard, it has become a recognized general product standard for automotive components.
Testing status and problems
When AEC-Q test samples are qualified and continuous supply is in place, manufacturers cannot maintain the consistency of batch product quality.
AEC-Q101, AEC-Q102 and AEC-Q200 have many applicable product series and models, and there are unclear family divisions and general data abuse.
The report is not issued in full accordance with the AEC-Q standard, the test items are incomplete or there is no specific test content in the report.
With the development of China's automotive electrification and intelligence, many new highly integrated products have emerged, but the existing AECQ standards cannot fully cover all products.
When AEC-Q103 and AEC-Q104 involve new products, there are often incomplete evaluations, wrong product standards or insufficient standards.
