Dehumidifier CE Certification_Marking LVD-EMC and RoHS Test

Dehumidifier CE Certification
To sell electronic and electrical products in the EU, you must follow the relevant directives. For industrial electrical equipment, the two most important are the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) and the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC). In addition, restrictions on the use of certain hazardous substances (RoHS) also apply to electrical and electronic equipment.

In addition, it also takes into account the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals REACH Regulation adopted by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). Finally, the new Conflict Materials Regulation will come into effect on January 1, 2021.

The membrane is beyond the scope of the LVD and EMC directives. According to EU regulations, it is neither intended nor permitted to provide CE marking or declaration of conformity under these directives.

The membrane complies with RoHS as well as the REACH directive.

The dehumidifier complies with EU directives:

1. Low Voltage Directive (LVD)
The LVD (2014/35/EU) ensures that electrical equipment is within specified voltage limits. It fundamentally provides a high level of protection for European citizens, and this version has been applicable since April 20, 2016.

The LVD covers the health and safety risks of electrical equipment operating at specified input or output voltages. In general, it applies to a wide range of electrical equipment for both domestic and professional use.

Purifiers and the LVD
Purifier membranes do not need to meet the LVD because they are outside the scope of Article 1. Specifically, the membranes are outside the scope because they operate at a voltage of 3V DC

Article 1 states:
For the purposes of this Directive, "electrical equipment" means any equipment designed for alternating current with a rated voltage between 50 and 1000 V and for direct current with a rated voltage between 75 and 1500 V, the phenomena listed in Annex II.

2. Dehumidifiers meet the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC)
The EMC Directive (2014/30/EU) ensures that electrical and electronic equipment do not generate or are not susceptible to electromagnetic interference. The EMC Directive limits the electromagnetic emissions of equipment to ensure that, when used as intended, such equipment does not interfere with radio and telecommunications and other equipment. The directive also specifies the immunity of such equipment to interference and seeks to ensure that the equipment is not susceptible to interference from radio emissions. Therefore, its main purpose is to regulate the compatibility of equipment for EMC.

Purifiers and EMC
Membrane is outside the scope of the European EMC Directive under Article 1(2)(d).

Article 1(2)(d) provides that this Directive does not apply to equipment whose physical characteristics have the following inherent properties:

(i) is incapable of generating or contributing to electromagnetic radiation in excess of levels that allow radio and telecommunication equipment and other apparatus to operate as intended;

(ii) does not suffer unacceptable degradation in its operation under conditions normally associated with electromagnetic disturbances in its intended use.

CE marking for dehumidifiers:
The CE marking on a product is mandatory to the extent permitted by the relevant EU directives. It therefore certifies that the product complies with the legal requirements of the directive, allowing it to be lawfully placed on the market in any European Member State. Importantly, not all products are required to have a CE marking.

Purifiers (Rosalhl) and CE marking
Neither the LVD or EMC directives apply to dehumidifier membranes. Neither CE marking nor declaration of conformity under these directives is intended nor permitted.

Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH)
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has established the REACH Regulation 1907/2006/EC, which lists substances present at levels not exceeding 0.1% wt. % of substances of very high concern (SVHC). It is a system for controlling chemicals in the EU and became law in the UK on 1 June 2007. Although not an electrical directive, it applies to all electrical equipment placed on the European market.

Dehumidifiers and REACH
Dehumidifier membranes also meet the requirements of the REACH Regulation, so the manufacturer has drawn up a Declaration of Conformity for the REACH Directive.
