Low pressure test

Detail Information
Product Description

Low pressure test
In the natural environment, atmospheric pressure decreases with increasing altitude. When automotive electronics, aviation products, batteries and various components are stored or used at high altitude or high altitude, they may be affected by the combined effects of external temperature and air pressure, resulting in changes in the physical properties of the product, such as material expansion, rupture, air leakage or liquid leakage in the sealed cavity, etc., which may cause product failure.

Low pressure test is a test method that uses equipment to simulate a high-altitude low-pressure environment and quickly verify the adaptability of the product to storage, transportation and use in a low-pressure environment. Through low pressure testing, product design defects can be discovered at an early stage and the failure rate of the product in actual use can be reduced.

What is low pressure test

Correspondence between air pressure and altitude
In natural environment, air pressure decreases with increasing altitude, but affected by factors such as standard air pressure at sea level, average molecular weight, gravitational acceleration, etc., the correspondence between air pressure and altitude in different places is not exactly the same. The general trend is shown in the following table (for reference):

Correspondence between air pressure and altitude

LCS capability
In order to better serve customers, LCS Automotive Division has introduced a comprehensive air pressure-temperature-humidity test chamber with the following test capabilities:

Comprehensive air pressure-temperature-humidity test chamber

Temperature range: -70℃~180℃
Humidity range: 10%~98%RH (10℃~90℃ controllable humidity)
Air pressure range: 0.5kPa~100kPa (5mbar~1bar)
Other capabilities: 1 Ø50mm power-on hole is installed to power on and monitor the prototype

Applicable standards
GJB 150.2A-2009 Procedure I - Storage/Air Transport, Procedure II - Work/External Flight;
GJB 360B-2009 "Test Methods for Electronic and Electrical Components" Method 105 Low Pressure Test
GJB 548B-2005 "Test Methods and Procedures for Microelectronic Devices" Method 1001 Low Pressure (High Altitude Work)
GB/T 2423.21-2008 "Environmental Testing for Electrical and Electronic Products Part 2: Test Method Test M: Low Pressure"
