Wi-Fi 7 test standard IEEE802.11be, LCS terminal laboratory Wi-Fi 7 regulatory testing capabilities
Wi-Fi 7 is the next generation WiFi standard. Based on WiFi 6, it introduces 320MHz bandwidth, 4096-QAM, Multi-RU, multi-link operation, enhanced MU-MIMO, multi-AP collaboration and other technologies, making WiFi 7 Compared with WiFi 6, it will provide higher data transmission rate and lower latency. WiFi 7 is expected to support up to 30Gbps throughput, approximately three times that of WiFi 6. This article will briefly introduce the testing capabilities in regulatory certification brought by Wi-Fi 7. LCS terminal laboratory currently has the wireless regulatory certification capabilities for Wi-Fi7 in North America, Canada, the European Union, Japan and other countries.
New test cases introduced by Wi-Fi7 regulations
1. Wi-Fi 7 will continue to introduce the 6GHz frequency band and add new bandwidth modes, including continuous 240MHz, non-continuous 160+80MHz, continuous 320 MHz and non-continuous 160+160MHz. Test instruments required by Wi-Fi 7 regulations have 320MHz Bandwidth analysis capabilities are a huge challenge for them.
2. Wi-Fi7 supports the Multi-RU mechanism. Wi-Fi7 RU allocation is more flexible than Wi-Fi6. Each user can be allocated multiple RUs. The 20M/40M channels can be combined into 5 or 10 different Multiple RUs through small size RUs respectively. Regulatory certification requires evaluation of each Multiple RU combination method. 80M/160M/320M channels can be combined into 4/4/12/24 different Multiple RUs through large size RUs. Regulatory certification requires evaluation of each Multiple RU combination method.
The test volume of Wi-Fi 7 has increased exponentially compared with the previous standard, so customers need to set aside more time for testing when applying for certification.
3. Wi-Fi7 has added new mandatory test items. In the 6G spectrum, there are already applications such as 5G cellular networks, satellite links, mobile radio and television broadcasts, and utility communication links. These applications have higher priority than Wi-Fi. Fi, therefore the FCC and ETSI mandate that Wi-Fi products perform a number of new tests on 6G band equipment to ensure the effective use of spectrum. Among them, CBP is one of the mandatory items for interference testing. The testing conditions are relatively strict. Since Wi-Fi 6e introduced CBP testing in 2022, Taier Terminal Laboratory has conducted CBP testing on more than 10 products and has accumulated experience in CBP debugging. Certain experience can help customers quickly obtain certification.
CBP test passing criteria: After interference signals are found on the working channel, reasonable avoidance is performed and transmission is stopped immediately. After the interference disappears, transmission can be resumed.
4. AFC test is included in the mandatory test items
AFC is a system that coordinates the use of spectrum in the 6GHz band. Wi-Fi uses low-power access points indoors and standard-power access points outdoors, where the latter are more susceptible to interference. AFC will help Wi-Fi7 expand to higher power through algorithms while avoiding interference, making it a key technology to simplify the use of the 6GHz band.
Currently, LCS Terminal Laboratory has certification qualifications for Wi-Fi 7 in North America, Europe and Japan, and has accumulated debugging and testing experience in multiple projects. It maintains good cooperative relations with domestic chip manufacturers and router manufacturers, and can help customers smoothly It has obtained multi-national certifications in a short period of time, has comprehensive Wi-Fi Alliance certification and testing qualifications, and multi-national regulatory testing and certification qualifications, and can provide customers with the most comprehensive one-stop certification services. In the future, LCS Terminal Laboratory will continue to provide fast, efficient, customized testing services for the domestic terminal industry, and continue to maintain the most advanced testing capabilities in the Wi-Fi field.
